Ironwoods is located in North Smithfield, Rhode Island.

The course is owned and operated by Ralph Ferra. Shortly before Ralph was going to retire, he decided to join some friends for golf. Prior to that fateful day, Ralph had not swung a golf club in decades.

Ralph had such a good time that he was bitten by the 'golf bug'. Ironwoods as we know it today, grew out of the desire for Ralph to have his own place to practice. You see, Ralph would frequent other local ranges and he soon tired of waiting for a hitting bay and frankly the other ranges did not have all the amenities that he desired.

Consequently, Ralph decided to build his own range with all the amenities that one could imagine such as:

• Grass hitting area
• 1000 square foot putting green
• Practice sand area
• Full service repair shop
• Golf instruction

Chris Mitson is Ironwoods Golf Facility's Associate Director of Operations. He is also apart of the professional teaching staff and is an accomplished golf club maker and fitting specialist.
